Florence M. (Rowe) Sisco

Florence Mae Sisco (nee Rowe), a lifelong resident of Elizabeth died March 27, 2017 at home at the age of 91.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 4 to 8 PM www.higginsandbonner.com  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Genevieve's RC Church in Elizabeth on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:00AM which will be followed by entombment at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.

Florence entered the U.S. Cadet Nursing Corps at the Beth Israel Hospital in Newark upon her graduation from Battin H.S. After graduation, she married Melvin Sisco and had two children. She resumed her nursing career with Dr. John Sprowls of Rahway until she retired in 1991. Ten years of volunteering at the Union County Division on Aging followed. She loved her trips to various casinos, Bingo, and traveling with her husband all over the USA with special pleasure in seeing all her relations in Florida.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years in 2004. Surviving are her son Steven of Elizabeth, daughter Ellen and son-in-law Hugh Gerechter of Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was the beloved grandmother of Gina and Frank Parrillo, Suzanne Sisco, Katie and Lance Brunner, Maeve and Jason Bennett, and Tal Gerechter, and the great grandmother of Connor Parrillo and Elijah Bennett. Also, surviving her is her sister Eileen Will of Bradenton, Florida, and sister-in-law Frances Chick Rowe of Bloomfield. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends which she cherished so much.
