William Simpson Obituary

William Louis Simpson Sr.

“In the night of death, hope sees a star, and listening love hears the rustle of a wing.”

Bill Simpson, 67, of Cranford, N.J., passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, N.J. With his wife and three children constantly by his side, he fought like only he could, and gracefully took the last of his famous naps in absolute peace and comfort. Born on March 5, 1951 in Newark, N.J. He was raised in the city, and moved to the Township of Cranford in 1977. Bill proudly served the Freehold Township Police Department for 37 years. He thoroughly enjoyed training and competing in the sport of powerlifting. In his later years nothing made him happier than setting the throttle lock on one of his motorcycles and cruising all over the country. He made it to 31 different states, was fascinated by Wyoming and the Dakotas, but loved nothing more than the Florida Keys. His family assumes that he saw more movies than anyone on the planet, but they can say with absolute certainty that he epitomized the virtues of hard work and selflessness. At 14 years old he met his future wife Carol Ann ice skating at Irvington Park, and those speed skates are definitely somewhere in the attic. Together they made one hell of a team, and raised their children with more love than anyone could imagine. Dad was one of a kind, and there are no words to express how greatly he will be missed. Bill was predeceased by his brother Robert. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 47 years Carol Ann Simpson. His son William Jr. His daughter Patricia Kaczmarczyk and her husband Stephen. His daughter Lori Drechsel and her husband Christopher. Pop also leaves behind his cherished grandson Owen, who brought the biggest smiles to his face even in his final hours. W-T-B-C-A-B-V.
