William Maurice Costine, 80, passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2023. He was born on May 7, 1943 to Maurice and Virginia. He grew up in Elizabeth, NJ with his five siblings. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Will served in the US Army from 1967-1968. He married his greatest love, Barbara Saxer, in August 1969. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Westfield, NJ, where they would reside for over 40 years, to raise their daughter.
Will was a dreamer with an imaginative entrepreneurial spirit, never letting an opportunity for adventure pass him by, one of which included owning a hair salon in Denver with his brother-in-law, Jack Saxer, in the early 1970s. He brought his wildly creative artistic talents to a successful advertising career both at J. Walter Thompson in New York City and Magna Graphics, an advertising agency he founded in his home of Westfield. After discovering West Coast IPAs during a trip to San Francisco in the late 1980s, he returned home and created the delicious Hoboken Ale, marketed throughout the tri-state area and enjoyed by many.
Will was passionate about the New York Yankees, the Rolling Stones, history, golf, and gardening, but nothing brought him more joy than being a husband and father. He is predeceased by his wife Barbara, his sister Carol, and brothers David, Edward, and Thomas. He is survived by his daughter Allison, his brother Gregory, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and friends who will continue to hold him in their hearts.
