Valerie Bardwil Obituary

Valerie P. Bardwil of Cranford, NJ, formerly of Elizabeth, NJ and Scranton, PA, went to the Lord on Tuesday after a very brief illness.

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10am at St. Michael’s RC Church, 40 Alden Street, Cranford, NJ, followed by a burial at St. Gertrude’s Mausoleum in, Colonia, NJ. 

Valerie was the wife of the late Joseph A. Bardwil and mother of the late James J. Bardwil and Joseph Jude Bardwil. She is survived by her children, Anita Bardwil (O’Malley), Kevin O’Malley (son-in-law), David J. Bardwil, Joanna Bardwil, Claudette Archambault (daughter-in-law), along with grandchildren Bryan O’Malley, John Bardwil, Amy O’Malley, Andrew Bardwil, Margaret Bardwil, Magan Mauro DelPrete, and great grandchild, Chloe DelPrete. 

“Mrs. B” was a devout Roman Catholic who was prominent in church ministry for decades, serving as a Eucharistic minister, liturgical banner designer, Parish Council and Rosary Society member at St. Michael’s Church, Cranford, NJ. Most recently she acted as the St. Michael’s Lectors Coordinator of Lectors and the Church Bulletin editor. 

Following her career as an executive secretary at Prudential Insurance, she became a wife and mother. She was active in the Elizabeth, NJ community as a founding member of the Elmora Youth League, also serving as a coach and Boy Scout den leader. For many years, she was also an active member of Elizabeth’s St. Genevieve Church, Elizabeth, NJ for many years. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Kean University, she excelled as a student in the Phi Kappa Phi and Lambda Alpha Sigma honors societies.

Above all, “Mrs. B” will be remembered by her extraordinary love, generosity of spirit and devotion, and for living an exemplary life in which she excelled at whatever role she was in. She will be truly missed by the many she touched and welcomed by the many whom she has joined in the Lord’s glory.
