Timothy Richard Poskay

Timothy Richard Poskay, 41, a lifelong resident of Clark, passed away on February 14, 2022. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Helen’s RC Church in Westfield. Tim was a proud graduate of Rutgers University where he graduated with a degree in Labor Relations. He also held a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science from New Jersey City University. Tim retired as a Firefighter with the Linden Fire Department. A lover of the outdoors and nature, he was an avid fresh and saltwater fisherman. Tim enjoyed playing lacrosse, ice hockey and football, as well as snowboarding. He loved hunting and was selected by the gaming commission to hunt black bear, which later decorated his living room floor. Tim’s travels took him to the Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Hawaii and Costa Rica. 

Tim cherished his family, most importantly his children. He was a parishioner of St. Helen’s RC Church in Westfield. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Poskay, and his niece, Finley. Tim is survived by his daughter, Victoria; his son, Connor; his fiancée, Angel Gibilisco; his mother, Beverly (Tyburczy) Poskay; his sister, Noel Poskay-Kalikas and her husband, Gus; his brother, Matthew Poskay and his wife Katrina, as well as his niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and soon to be stepson, Logan Lobello.

 To know him was to love him. Tim waged a valiant and excruciating battle with addiction. He had just returned, this past weekend, from a sober weekend retreat. Later that evening, a lapse in judgment resulted in a relapse that took his life. Tim’s family and friends loved him to the very depths of their souls and supported him through his ups and downs as he struggled. In honor of Tim’s life, we ask that the stigma surrounding overdose death ends and the truth and awareness about the drug epidemic that is consuming our nation gets the attention it so deserves. In lieu of flowers, Tim would have appreciated a donation to your local animal shelter.
