Timothy Hanratty Obituary

Timothy J. Hanratty, 52, passed away into God's Loving Care on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, on August 22, 1969, he resided in the Bedminster and Lavallette, NJ.

Timothy, son of Thomas and Frances Hanratty, grew up in Elizabeth, NJ, where he enjoyed being active, playing with his brothers, Tommy and Terry, and his friends from neighborhood. He participated in the Elmora Youth League and was proud, strong member of the Elizabeth High School football team. He formed many lifelong bonds and friendship growing up in Elizabeth. Tim continued his pursuits in higher education and was commissioned for 1 year at West Point Academy and went on to graduate Rutgers University with B.A. in history. His interest in history and law led him to pursue a career in the New Jersey State Police where he honorably served as a trooper for 7 years. In retirement, he continued to work as the head of security for AT&T in Bedminster, NJ and pursued his interest in carpentry by starting a handyman business. Tim maintained his interests in sports and remained a faithful Yankees and Giants fan throughout his life. Tim also enjoyed listening to music and was an avid reader. He went on to pursue his craft in writing by publishing several books of short stories. Tim faced many challenges in life,  including surviving a stroke which he handled like he did most things in his life, with great strength and determination. He was married to his wife Nicole for 22 years. They met in 1993, fell in love and shared many adventures together. But, without a doubt, Tim would consider his greatest accomplishment and joy in his life to be his family and his children Rory, Tommy, and Kate. Timmy was all heart and will be truly missed by all those who had the honor of knowing him.

Timothy is predeceased by his father, Thomas Hanratty, and brother, Thomas J. Hanratty. He is survived by his wife Nicole Hanratty, and children Rory, Thomas, and Kate Hanratty, mother, Frances Hanratty, brother Terrence Hanratty and sister-in-law, Catherine Hanratty, nephews Terrence and Tyce Hanratty, nieces Kelly and Cora Hanratty, and many loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
