Rory Patrick McGovern

Rory Patrick McGovern, 22, of Westfield, New Jersey passed away on October 15, 2022. He was born on January 22, 2000, joining his older brother and sister and completing his mom’s perfect family. He graduated from Westfield High School in 2018 as an undefeated football player, one of his many passions. After his graduation, Rory sought a career that would cultivate his innate ability to work with his hands. He was completing his technical education as a tradesman while also working at Reynold Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Inc., where he displayed his hard work ethic and intelligence each day alongside his mentors.

Rory was disciplined and always prioritized his fitness, spent time with his family and many life-long friends, and looked for his next odd job around the house to help his beloved mother. One of Rory’s greatest strengths was his loyalty to his family and friends. He had a sincere gift of fiercely protecting his loved ones and listening to others with genuine empathy, while also brightening the room with his sense of humor and cleverness.

Rory is survived by his mother; Jeannie, older brother; Eddie, older sister; Courtney, grandparents; Granville and Rosemary Gwillym, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who love him beyond measure. Those who knew and loved Rory are invited to join his family in celebration of his beautiful life on Monday (10/24) at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield from 4 to 8 pm.
