Robert Tarduno Obituary

Bob (Robert) Raymond Tarduno, 81, resident of The Villages, Florida, died peacefully surrounded by his family on February 3, 2023.

Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 9, 1941. He lived most of his life in Ozone Park, NY and Nesconset, NY before retiring to Indian Trail, North Carolina and The Villages, Florida. He was one of six siblings, son of Emma and Anthony Tarduno.

Bob joined the United States Navy in 1958, serving 4 years on the USS Randolph. During this time, he focused on his love of music while learning how to play the guitar. He proudly served his country and was truly passionate about the United States.

Bob’s love of cars and mechanics led him to spend most of his career at Green Bus Lines, in Queens, NY. His last position was Director of Operations and Superintendent of Maintenance, overseeing an expansive team to keep the buses running in the NYC Metropolitan area.

Bob had many hobbies that kept him very busy and engaged with his friends and family. He had a love of cars, not only buying classic cars, but racing cars at the Englishtown Raceway. Upon retirement, he started to transport cars in the Southeast, traveling multiple states to deliver cars to people who loved them as much as him. He also enjoyed golfing, any new electronic gadgets (or the newest social media accounts), CB radios, saltwater fish, hunting, softball, bowling, video games, and a fine glass of Chardonnay, with ice. He also loved the happy hours in The Villages, golfing on the many golf courses while driving around in his supped-up golf cart.  And he loved his dogs, especially Lizzie, a miniature Schnauzer. But most importantly, he loved his family and friends.

Bob is predeceased by his mother and father, Emma and Anthony Tarduno, and his wife Rosalind Tarduno, who passed away in 2011. He was a devoted and loving father to Robert Tarduno, John Tarduno, and Janine (Tarduno) Kennedy, and a loving father-in-law to Edna Tarduno, Catherine Tarduno and Matthew Kennedy. He loved his 6 grandchildren, Alexandra (Tarduno) Purciello and Michael Purciello, Melissa Tarduno, Dr. Ashley Tarduno, Meghan Tarduno, Sarah Kennedy and Emily Kennedy. He is survived by his second wife, Helen Cusack who resides in The Villages, Florida. He was a great friend to many, who loved his sarcastic sense of humor and love of life.
