Robert “Bob” Lavin, 77, of Lambertville, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 18, 2025.
A kind and gentle man, Bob was beloved and well respected. Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ by parents Charles “Smitty” Lavin and Elizabeth Dwelle Lavin, Bob cherished his abundantly large and loving family; predeceased by his parents, daughter Elizabeth Ann Lavin, her mother Loretta Lavin, and his brother Charles W. Lavin, Bob is survived by his devoted children, Jennifer (Patrick) Kane and their daughters Bridget and Veronica, Loretta (Robert) Jordan and their children Elizabeth, Ava and Matthew, Emily Lavin, Brian (Deana) Morgan, and George (Diane) Morgan and their sons Liam and Owen, loving brothers and sisters, Mary Ruth (William) Kelly,Elizabeth Jane (Daniel) Beirne, Patrick (Kathie) Lavin, Judith Ann Lavin, Eileen (Robert) Barbieri, Joyce (Michael) Adase, William (Kathleen) Lavin, Jeanne Marie (Jay) Fontanarosa, and Timothy (Alexandria) Lavin, many caring nieces and nephews, a brotherhood of firefighters, and countless dear and warm-hearted friends.
Having lived a long and fulfilling life, Bob considered himself accomplished in that his heart was full with love and peace. His extensive list of lifetime experiences and achievements could never alone completely define him as a person but here are some that were core to who he was: Retired Battalion Chief of the Elizabeth, NJ Fire Department, U.S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam, charity advocate and volunteer, marathoner, fisherman, avid baseball and overall sports fan, nature enthusiast, student and teacher of Qigong, and dedicated family man. He loved his family with all his heart.
Bob was a man of upstanding character and good nature. Peace and love were at his core. His parents instilled and fostered a legacy of kindness and goodwill in all of their children. Fondly referred to as the “Lucky 11”, Bob and his ten siblings have always made their parents proud by honoring their legacy.
Bob’s family and friends will truly miss him and cherish his memory forever. May he rest in peace.
