Richard Harry Rehbein, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.
Richard was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and was the son of the late John Rehbein and the late Mildred Hoelderlin-Rehbein. He was married to his beloved wife, the late Josephine Emilia Pescatore-Rehbein for 61 years, where they shared a home in Kenilworth, NJ for 40 years and had three children, Laura Rehbein, Richard M. Rehbein and the late Dana Rehbein.
Richard was a draftsman and designer of custom commercial kitchens for 60 years. Throughout his architect career, he co-owned the Arkay Commercial Kitchen Co. in Jersey City with his brother. They designed and built custom stainless steel kitchens for restaurants, hotels, clubs, corporations, and country clubs. His favorite architect jobs included Giants Stadium, Brendan Byrne Arena, and the Pegasus restaurant at the Meadowlands Racetrack. Until his retirement, he worked for BRC Commercial Kitchens in Elmwood Park, NJ as a project manager.
Grandfather of Laura, John, Joseph, Alexandria, Gregory, Thomas, Emily and Christopher.
Great Grandfather of Harper, Chase, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Weston.
Predeceased by his brother Robert (Bob) Rehbein and sister Rita Wurster.
Survived by brother-in-laws Rocco Pescatore and George Wurster and sister-in-law Maryann Pescatore, and daughter-in-law Maria Esther Rehbein.
He has many nieces and nephews.
Richard was dearly loved for his constant happiness and positive outlook on life. He was filled with many funny stories and adored spending time with his family, especially around the holidays. Richard was an amazing artist and a lifelong NY Giants, Yankees and Knicks fan. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
