Patrick Gerard McGregor, January 26, 1930 - October 16, 2020. Passed on Friday, October 16, 2020. Patrick was born in Sixmilebridge, Ireland, and was the youngest son of Elizabeth King and James McGregor.
Pat was raised by his Aunt Lizzie after his parents died when he was a young lad. He had three brothers, who eventually scattered to different parts of the world. He left Ireland at the age of eighteen and moved to London to help with rebuilding after WWII. He was always seeking a better life and emigrated to Toronto, Canada at the age of twenty-one to join his brother,Jimmy. There he met his future wife, Frances Hudson. In 1960, he and Frances and their three-year old daughter, Deborah, moved to Sydney, Australia, where his brother, Frank, had settled. While the family loved living in there, he believed the United States was the land of opportunity, and his brother John lived in Brooklyn, so he and the family sailed to New York in November, 1963. They settled in Brooklyn, and Danny was born in 1964, and Donna in 1968.
Pat loved to tell stories, especially about Ireland, and returned there twice to visit later in life. He had a great ability to recall the facts and circumstances of many instances in his life, and freely shared those details in the course of conversation. He loved being with his friends and family more than anything else, and he was especially fond of all the young people in our family.
He loved animals and was an avid horse racing fan.
He is survived by his daughter Deborah Elizabeth (Bill) Ingrassia, his son Daniel (Joyce) Patrick McGregor, his daughter Donna Marie Gossage and his three grandsons, Maxwell Andrew Ingrassia, Alexander William Ingrassia, and Benjamin Patrick Ingrassia.
