Patricia J. (Ponto) Churchill

Patricia Jon Churchill passed away peacefully on February 23, 2020, after bravely battling cancer and a stroke.  Patty was retired from various administrative positions she held in corporate America after graduating from Drake Business College.  Patty’s passion was animals, and she adopted many abandoned pets, giving them love and shelter.  She marched for animal rights and fought for animal protection. She also enjoyed gardening, classic movies, and antiquing.  Patty’s parents, John and Sally Ponto, predeceased her.  Patty is survived by her life partner, Michael Andres; her sister, Geraldine Ponto; her brother, James Ponto (Karen); her niece, Michelle Richards; her nephew, Brian Ponto; and two “children,” Sadie and D.C.  A prayer service will be held at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home at 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020, followed by interment at St. Gertrude’s R.C. Cemetery, Colonia, NJ. Patty’s memory would be honored by a donation to the A.S.P.C.A. or your local animal shelter
