Muriel Parmelee Obituary

Muriel (Anderson) Parmelee, 92, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa, passed away at Morristown Medical Center, on October 23, 2025.  Born in Elizabeth and lived there from 1967 to 2020 before moving to Dingmans Ferry. 

She was a member of the Milford Valley Quilt Guild, Girl Scouts, Boy Scout Pack Leader, teacher at St Patricks Grammar School & St Michaels, Elizabeth, St Marys, Rahway, Benedictine Academy and was principal of her alma mater.  She was also a graduate of Caldwell (College) University in 1954.

Growing up she was active in St Patricks Parish, Elizabeth.  Raising her children in Elizabeth, they were all members of St Genevieve Parish and participated in spiritual life of St Vincent De Paul, Milford, Pa.

Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Robert A; parents, John A & Catherine (Sullivan) Anderson; son, John W Parmelee; brothers, Rev. Arthur T Anderson & Thomas Anderson.  Surviving are her children, MaryAnn (Thomas) Schwork, Patrick (Sue) Parmelee, Michael (Debbie) Parmelee, Kathleen (Andrew) Falk, Maureen (Quinn) Smith, Kevin (Ava) Parmelee, David (Aimee) Parmelee; her sister Sister Margaret Sullivan and many grand and great grandchildren

Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-7pm at the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave, Westfield,  Funeral mass will be on Friday at 10am at St Genevieve RC Church, Elizabeth with interment to follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Newark.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Valerie Fund, 2101 Millburn Ave, Maplewood, NJ 07040 or your local food bank.
