Miguel “Miguelito” Abdala - devoted husband, father, and grandfather died peacefully on
April 14, 2021. He was born on October 25,1929 in the town of Guisa in the province of
Oriente, Cuba. He was the third child of four born to Miguel and Rosa Abdala, Lebanese
immigrants to Cuba. In his early twenties he immigrated to the United States and settled
in Elizabeth, NJ. He met and married his future wife, Guillermina, shortly there after.
They had two children, Lizette (Michael Tormey) and Michael (Madeline Corchado).
Miguel loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, Michael, Ryan,
Katherine and Vanessa.
Miguel was employed for many years at MacMillan Bloedel Paper Products Company.
He started his own company, Abdala Paper Products, in the late 70’s.
Miguel was proud of his Cuban heritage and was a member of the Cuban Club and the
Cuban Chapter of the Lions Club in Elizabeth. He was instrumental in sponsoring many
relatives and friends in immigrating and settling in to the United States. He loved
baseball and followed the Minnesota Twins, since they had a farm team near his
hometown in Cuba.
Miguel was predeceased by his parents Miguel and Rosa, and his siblings Victoria,
Zoila and Raul.
Visiting will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 from 4-8pm at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake
Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave. Westfield, N.J. The Mass of Christian Burial Service
will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021 at St. Helen’s RC Church, 1600 Rahway Ave.
Westfield, N.J. at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Rosedale-Rosehill Cemetery, 350
E. Linden Ave. Linden, N.J.
