Rosemary Maureen Murphy
Maureen “Mo” Murphy 77, of Mountainside, passed away on December 25, 2020 after a brief
illness.
Born in Clones, Co. Monaghan, Ireland, raise in Birkenhead, England before immigrating to the United States in 1955. She resided in Elizabeth until relocating to Mountainside in 2004.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Molly (Slowey) McClave, her brother John McClave and his wife Rosemary as well as her in-laws John and Julia Mae Murphy and brother's in-law Florry Murphy, Connor Tully, Ray Palovcak and Gerry Lanigan.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, James Murphy. She is also survived by her chidlrem John (Nadine) Murphy, Noreen (Lionel) Ribau, Jennifer (Stephen) McKee, and her beloved sister Evelyn Palovcak. She will be missed by her eight grandchildren who she loved and cherished: Casey, James, John, Owen Murphy, Lauren, Brian Ribau and Molly and Stephen McKee. She is survived by her many in-laws; Mike (Barbara) Murphy, Mary Tully, Shelia Langan, Kitty Guihan, Jackie (Nuala) Murphy, Donie (Sheila) Murphy, Ted (Donna) Murphy, Noreen (Mick) O'Sullivan, Noel (Stephanie) Murphy, Gerald (Annamarie) Murphy and Martin (Maria) Murphy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Maureen worked at Suburban Golf in Union, New Jersey for forty plus years before retiring in 2018. Suburban was her second home where she made great lifelong friends.
Maureen loved her family and friends and was known to light up any room. She loved her trips to Ireland and Atlantic City. She rarely missed her son's or her grandchildren's soccer games and could be heard loudly cheering on the sidelines. She also was an avid Seton Hall Pirates basketball fan.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Bartholomew's Church in Scotch Plains at 11:00 am. For those who are abroad or do not want to attend due to Covid concerns, the funeral mass will be shared via a live link, which can be found at: www.stbartholomewchurch.org. Visitation for family only will be at Higgins & Bonner Funeral Home in Westfield, New Jersey at 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
