Matthew Shaffer

The world lost a wonderful son, brother and friend when David Matthew Shaffer, 30, passed away in NYC on Thursday February 13, 2020.  Matthew lived most of his life in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School in 2008 and then went on to attend Rider University.  Matthew will be remembered for his bright wit and a kind and sweet nature who had always loved animals.

He will be sadly missed by his loving father Albert Jay Shaffer, his devoted mother Jocelyne Holden-Crecca and his stepfather William Crecca, and his loving brother James Andrew Shaffer and his wife Elizabeth Wilson-Shaffer.​​

A life celebration will be held on Thursday February 20,2020 from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.  There will be a memorial service during the gathering.​

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness, in memory of David Matthew Shaffer.​​
