Mary Lou LaMotta
March 15, 1939 - November 15, 2023
Mary Lou ( nee Chiccone) of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Mary Lou was blessed with a long and meaningful 84 years of life filled with everything she loved: spending time with her family, dedication to her faith, and vacationing in her summer home on the Jersey Shore.
Mary Lou spent most of her career working for The Newark Board of Education, where she served as a teller/administrative assistant at NBEE Credit Union. Her work ethic was impeccable, and her reputation was beyond reproach.
Mary Lou was admired and respected by many. She had a peaceful spirit and a gentle and generous heart. To others, Mary Lou was an
example of a committed, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with a shoulder to lean on when needed and the best with whom to celebrate life’s happiest moments. Those memories are many and forever.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Robert C. La Motta. She is survived by her loving children Linda Danzis, her husband Bruce, Diana Faraone, and her husband Michael. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Lindsey Heffernan and her husband, Derek; Brian Danzis and his wife, Shannon; and Michele Eckstein and her husband, Adam. She also leaves behind four great- grandchildren: Kaylee and Brayden Heffernan, Benjamin and Emma Danzis. Her family and friends will miss her laughs, good nature, and the relationships she built with all of us.
Rest in peace, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
