Marilyn Mooney Obituary

Marilyn Audrey Morris Mooney, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 88, passed away on December 11, 2020 in Kenilworth, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held on Sunday, December 13 from 2-6PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.

Audrey was a lifelong resident of Elizabeth until 2016 when she moved to Toms River, NJ with her son, Terry, and daughter-in-law, Nancy. In 2019 she moved to Kenilworth, where she passed away, with her daughter Dawn and son-in-law, Gabes Stelljes.

Audrey was born on June 25, 1932 in Elizabeth NJ. She was the daughter of the late Frederick T. Morris and Marion Matilda (Danskin) Morris. Audrey’s parents owned and operated F.T. Morris Drugs Inc. for 60 years in Elizabeth. Audrey graduated from Battin High School in 1950 and Union Junior College in 1952. Upon graduation from the Berkeley Business School in 1954, Audrey began her career as the Executive Secretary to the President of Union Junior College. She worked many years as a Legal Secretary and as a realtor in the Elizabeth area after being a stay at home mom for her six children. She was a founding member of Action Realty in Elizabeth.

Audrey is survived by her 6 children: Charles Richard (Clare), James Todd (Colleen), Frederick Brian (Kimberly), Christopher Terrence (Nancy), Marilyn Dawn Mooney Stelljes (Gabes), Stuart Eric (Kimberly Wills), 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, in addition to numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Audrey was predeceased by her daughter, Marion Elizabeth; her parents, Fred and Marion Morris; her former husband, Richard Mooney; her sister, Marion Bernardine Morris Erkins and her husband, Robert; her brother, Frederick Todd Morris Jr; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brendan and Maureen Mooney.

Audrey enjoyed collecting her TREASURES, her pet dogs, the Jersey Shore, especially Point Pleasant and Cape May, where she spent summers with her parents, plays at the Paper Mill Playhouse and trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them.
