in our Nations Capital until she and her husband James S. West moved to Alexandria,
Virginia the winter of 1957. The following summer, they moved to their family home
where they raised their two children. Here they remined for 46 years. After the death of
Marie’s husband, she moved to New Jersey to be with her daughter’s family where she
lived the past twenty years.

Marie made new friends in New Jersey through her church family. She outlived her
close friends by many years. Her family attributes Marie’s long healthy life to good
genes, organic food, living with her family who loved and cared for her dearly, and a
structured lifestyle. Marie’s routine consisted of morning exercises, reading her Bible
and other publications, an early afternoon nap an followed by a snack of her most loved
Scottish Butter Cookies, working on arts and crafts projects, watching her favorite game
shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, playing online Bridge, Spider and Solitaire.
Her favorite time of day was enjoying a bowl of Trader Joe’s Vanilla Ice Cream for her
dinnertime desert.
