Margaret Sweeney Obituary

Margaret Sweeney (Crowe), age 87, formerly of Westfield, NJ passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024. She was born in Torbay, Newfoundland in 1937 where she was educated and was a teacher before moving to Brooklyn, NY and meeting her future husband John. She was married in 1962 and had 3 children, John, Michael and Karyn. She was a loving wife and mother who was ahead of her time in performing her domestic engineering responsibilities while working part time at Lerners/ NY & Co. She lived in Brooklyn raising her family there from 1962 to 2014. She then moved to Sunrise of East Brunswick and Sunrise of Westfield assisted living facilities from 2014 until her passing.

She is survived by her children John and wife Becky (deceased), Michael and wife Regina and Karyn and husband Karl and  grandchildren Jennifer and Matthew (John), Kristen & Kendall (Michael and Regina) and Kaidan and Kayla ( Karyn & Karl)

The family will receive family and friends from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 and Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home at 582 Springfield Ave in Westfield, NJ. The funeral mass will be at St Helen's Roman Catholic Church at 1600 Rahway Ave in Westfield at 11:30am on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024.

The Sweeney family would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the team at Sunrise of Westfield, led by their able leader, Kerry Ann and nurse, Patty.

We would also request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
