Westfield, NJ - Marc Mruz, 66, a beloved husband, awesome father, adoring Pop Pop, and friend to all passed away on Monday May 22, 2023 at his home at the Jersey Shore after a courageous one-year battle with cancer.
Marc was born in Bayonne NJ and is predeceased by his parents Regina (née Szymanski) and Thomas Mruz, and his brother Thomas S. Mruz.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35-years Kathy (née Saunders); his daughter Christine Milone, and her husband Joseph of Staten Island; his son Thomas (TJ) Mruz of Westfield; his cherished granddaughters Stella and Vienna; sisters-in-law (née Saunders) Maria (Bud); Eileen; and Joanie; their families; many cousins; and his dog Charlie Irish Mruz.
He was a 1975 graduate of St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City and a 1979 graduate of NYU. After securing his CPA, he spent several years as a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co. From there, Marc went on to become a senior executive and managing director in Global Markets Finance.
Over the span of his distinguished 40-year career, he led teams and created initiatives which contributed to the profitable growth and competitive advantage at Solomon Brothers (where he met his beautiful bride), Banker’s Trust, Deutsche Bank, Bank of America, and Cantor Fitzgerald.
For the last six years, Marc was Co-Founder and CFO of www.Kiindly.com where he and colleagues launched a start-up company dedicated to finding innovative ways to change the way people support local, national, and global charitable organization.
In the early days, Marc enjoyed photography, but he mostly loved playing Bayonne baseball anytime and anywhere. He was an enthusiastic fan of the NY Yankees, NJ Devils, Green Bay Packers (no one at Churchill’s ever understood that one!), and he loved golf!
Growing up, Marc spent summers in Pt. Pleasant Beach, where he developed a love for everything Jersey Shore - sun, sand, boardwalks, live music with friends, fun with all ages at Jenkinson’s & Martell’s. He chose to spend his final days at the Jersey Shore on his own porch close to the lake and ocean he loved where he was granted the gift of passing on his own terms.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marc’s memory to St. Peter’s Prep. Online donations on the St. Peter’s Prep website or checks payable to St. Peter’s Prep / Office of Institutional Advancement / 144 Grand St., Jersey City, NJ
