It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our father, Manuel M. Soufront, with our family and friends-
Our dad was a gentle man who valued family and life above all things - A man who spoke softly and loved deeply-
Dad was born and raised in Mayarí,
Province of Oriente, Cuba - January 1st, 1927 - His parents were Marcial Soufront and Juana Sosa- Dad had an older sister, Augustina Soufront -
Dad and his sister lost their Mom at a very early age and were raised by God parents who taught them a trade and how to speak English- They also taught Dad a trade , fine carpentry and cobbler-
As a teenager he moved to Havana, Cuba in search of work and later met mom, Caridad Manzano- They married and raised a family - later in life due to political reasons they fled Cuba with two daughters in tow- Marcia and Petra- Settling in Elizabeth, New Jersey making a living as a carpenter -
His hands showed signs of hard work as a carpenter - He truly loved his craft - Later in life he took up model ship building and was invited by the Elizabeth Historical Society to curate an exhibit of Scooners, his favorite - Building model ships became his passion - He loved classical music and learned to play the piano - After retirement he learned Tai Chi and a led a group for many years at Warinanco Park in Elizabeth-
We know dad now rests in God’s arms- He’s resting peacefully and his love and warm heart is a gift he left with us for eternity and beyond-
Rest In Peace our beloved husband, father and grandfather - you will be missed and forever in our hearts -
