Manuel Ribeiro Obituary

Manuel J Ribeiro, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021, at Overlook Hospital in Summit, at the age of 86.  Born in 1935 in Sopo, Portugal to Alfredo Ribeiro and Amelia Ana Decastro.  He served in the army and gained his love of cooking while working at bar in Lisbon.  He later moved to the United States in 1966.  He married the love of his life Maria Rosa Ribeiro and raised his family in Union, NJ.  He worked hard at Tuscan Dairy for over 20 years.  He loved his family first and foremost but also loved all animals, was an excellent cook and enjoyed the occasional visit to Atlantic City.

His family meant the world to him. He would do anything for his kids or grandkids and sacrificed a lot to be able to provide for his family.  He always enjoyed their visits and loved to celebrate the milestones in their lives.  He was a good friend to all and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Ribeiro, his children and their spouses Sandy and Oscar Carcamo, Michelle and Steve Sassa and John Ribeiro (predeceased) and Kara Ribeiro, his grandchildren Chris Ribeiro (and his wife Paula), Gabriella Carcamo and Jamie Ribeiro, and his brother and sister, Amadeu Ribeiro and Maria Ribeiro Fiuza.

A wake will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec 2, at Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, Mountainside. A mass of Christian burial will be said at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at St. Michael's R.C. Church, Union. Burial will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Newark.
