Magda L. Cabrera

Magda Luisa Cabrera, passed away on July 22, 2023 at her home in Kenilworth, NJ. She was born on August 14, 1942 in Bayamo, Cuba to her parents Eugelio and Elba Luisa Fonseca. .She came to Elizabeth, NJ in 1968  along with her husband, Angel "Papi" Cabrera. They settled in Elizabeth and in 1975 they welcomed their only son.  Magda worked as a machine operator at Graber-Rogg, Inc., in Cranford, NJ, for over 30 years. Magda attended the Divina Pastora School in Cuba, and was part of the band at the school. She enjoyed cooking and dedicating to her home, which was her joy. She also was fond of great perfumes and great music to dance to. Magda had and has many relatives in the Elizabeth area, as her father, Eugelio, was one of 13 children. 

After she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, her health declined, and more so after her husband of 57 years passed January 5, 2022. Her illness advanced rapidly, 

Magda was preceded in death by her husband, Angel "Papi" Cabrera. Her family and all who knew and loved her will remember her and miss her dearly. She is survived by her son, Angel A. Cabrera, along with his wife, Lorena, and her beloved granddaughter, Lourdes. 

Friends and family are invited to attend her viewing at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, NJ on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm. The Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 155 Washington Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ at 6:30pm.
