Lillian Corsi (Wrobleski) of Mountainside passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 29, 2022, surrounded by her husband and daughter. Lillian was born and raised in Harrison, NJ before moving to Mountainside in the 1970s. She was a social worker for the Town of Westfield for nearly 40 years. She was president of the Municipal Welfare Directors Association, active in the Salvation Army, served as a member of the Union County Senior Citizen Council and was proud of creating the Caring Neighbor Fund, which served thousands of needy families.
Lillian was a beloved wife, cherished mother and adored grandmother. She enjoyed traveling during her adult life and always looked forward to her family’s annual vacation to Long Beach Island each summer. Holidays were so special to her and she enjoyed spending them with her family and practicing traditions passed on from her life such as her Polish Christmas and Easter breakfasts and St. Patrick’s Day dinners- all including the stories of her childhood and family members who started these traditions.
She was known for her humor to her friends and family and always a good shoulder to lean on in times of need. She loved fiercely and would do anything for those she loved. Lillian loved animals and volunteered years with the Puppies Behind Bars program.
Lillian is predeceased by her son, Anthony Corsi. The loss of her son nearly 3 years ago was especially difficult and she struggled with the realization each day. May they be reunited in Heaven. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Anthony Corsi, her daughter Laina Bukowsky (Corsi), son in law Brian Bukowsky and the lights of her life, granddaughters Harper and Madison Bukowsky.
Visitation will be held at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4-8 pm. A mass will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Mountainside. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to charities in her honor: Puppies Behind Bars, Beth’s Furry Friends and St. Jude’s. Philanthropy was a big part of her life and donating in her name would make her most proud.
