Leonard J. "Len" Specht, Sr., 79, of Montgomery, died Friday, June 14, 2024, at UPMC Williamsport Hospital.
Len married the former Roberta Pentz on August 15, 1970. Born June 10, 1945, in Old Forge, PA, he was a son of the late Leonard and Anna (Kravitz) Specht.
Len was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Old Forge, Pa. He was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the US Air Force, where he was a Sergeant. After the war, Leonard graduated from Rutgers-Newark, where he received his bachelors degree.
He was employed at Exxon Mobile, Bayway Refinery and retired from British Petroleum Turbo Oil, Linden, NJ. Len was a life member of VVA (Vietnam Veterans of America) Chapter #688, Westfield, NJ, a member of Rolling Thunder, Neshanic, NJ, a member of the American Legion Post #251, Montgomery, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of the Buick Club of America. He was a life-long trout fisherman and enjoyed fishing in the Elimsport area.
Surviving in addition to his wife Roberta, is a son, Leonard J. Specht, Jr., of Scotch Plains, NJ; and a sister, Mary Scaglione, of Ramsey, NJ. In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Specht; and two sisters, Doris Mihal, and Jean Specht.
The viewing will be from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, PA. www.mccartythomas.com A funeral mass will take place at St. Helen’s RC Church, 1600 Rahway Ave., Westfield, NJ on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Leonards name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital
