Lauren V. Quow

Lauren Venda Quow of Springfield, New Jersey, departed her life on Saturday, August 22, 2020 in her home. Lauren was born in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the late Powell Mattis and Verona Hadaway-Mattis. The third of six children, she grew up in Vermont in Saint Vincent. Lauren attended Saint Joseph’s Convent School in Kingstown, Saint Vincent. She immigrated to New York in 1981 where she continued her education. Lauren attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College and Long Island University. In 1992, Lauren married her husband, Alson E. Quow, whom she had known since childhood. They were married for 28 years but were together for 36 years. They had three children– Krystina Lauren Quow, Alexander Alson Quow, and Justine Simonne Quow. She worked at Service Experts in Hillsborough, New Jersey.

Lauren was a devoted mother, beloved wife, supportive sister, and loving aunt.  Her presence was known through her personality. She loved to socialize with new people and made them feel as if they were a member of her family. She was family-oriented and was a loving and proud mother of her three children. She would always tell her children “you may not like my delivery, but I mean well” and that she wanted the best for them. She adored her nieces and nephews and always treated them as though they were her own.

Lauren is survived by her husband, Alson Quow, and her children – Krystina Quow, Alexander Quow, Justine Quow, and her son-in-law A. Justin Rucker and Jeet Panchal; her siblings – Daffodil Hines, Vincent Hines, Diana Gabriel, Ricardo Mattis, Swanston Mattis, Giselle Mattis, Edna Phillips, Yvonne Hazell, Grafton Mattis, Charlie Mattis, Lenny Mattis, Jennifer Providence, Ernest Mattis, Roslyn Mattis, Sharon Mattis, Alban Mattis, Dumah Mattis, Gavin Mattis, Lambert Mattis; and a host of other family members, nieces and nephews. 

Lauren Quow is undeniably gone too soon, with so much more to give, to teach and to share with her beautiful family.

The funeral service will be held at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield, New Jersey on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 3:00PM. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
