Laura Irene (best known as Dixie) Bridge, 84, passed away February 27, 2020 in Mountainside, NJ. She was born on January 8, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was raised by her loving parents, Guy and Laura, in Chestnut Hill and shared company with her beloved dog, Queenie. Upon graduating from high school she attended Drexel University where she earned a degree in Home Economics, with a concentration in Textiles. She honed these skills to perfection volunteering with the Historic Society in home restorations and tours, as well as providing countless works of art for the local hospital gift shop. Weekends and summers were typically spent boating upon the East Coast waterways. It was during her time on the water that she became an avid reader, and endlessly inspired to provide her soothing nautical watercolor pieces. She and her husband moved to Oriental, North Carolina in the 1980’s. It was there that she was able to fully concentrate on her art, and eventually won several awards.
