Kathrine E. Soriano

Kathrine Eliza Soriano, 45, of Mountainside, NJ passed away on the 14th of July 2023. She was born to parents Romeo and Guillermina Alberto in Manila, Philippines. She was the youngest of three sisters.

Kathy exemplified natural beauty and always carried herself with class and confidence. She had a talent with crafts and decorating her lovely home. Her favorite time of year was Christmas time. She was full of excitement and passion for beautiful decorations (especially the Christmas Tree) and known for her unmatched gift-wrapping skills. She also had a talent of putting together fashionable outfits without the lavish prices.

Kathy (or Eliza) went to High School in St Theresa's College in the Philippines where her batchmates maintained their bond regardless of distance. She then migrated to the United States and received her Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University. 

Kathy briefly worked at Clara Mass Medical where she met her close friends to this day. She worked at ADP for 16 years as Compliance Analyst in East Hanover. She was part of what started as a “Book Club” and turned to regular social gatherings with her wonderful friends. Through the years, she also became great friends with her husband’s friends where they would have “Girls Night Out”, numerous fun BBQ’s and various celebrations.

Kathy met her husband Alex in 2007 through mutual friends. They were married for 11 years. Together they raised their only child Drew. She was a wonderful wife and mother to her son that she whole-heartedly both adored. She made sure that Drew always felt loved but also emphasized on appropriate discipline. She also focused on developing great habits and respecting others. As a testament to this, everyone that has met Drew in person sees this in him.

Kathy enjoyed having a bottle of wine or Gin & Tonic to relax with her husband on the weekends while having weekly family “Movie Night” her son. She also took pleasure trying out various restaurants and going to “Food Trip” adventures. She loved going to trips & vacations. Her “go to” happy place is Aruba where she was married and has been to numerous places worldwide like Maui, Thailand, Costa Rica, Greece, to name a few.

Kathy is survived by her husband Alex, her son, Drew, her parents, Romeo & Minnie, her sisters, Anne & Tricia, & nephew Nathan.

The family has entrusted Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home with the arrangements. A wake is scheduled for Friday, July 21st from 4pm to 8pm at 582 Springfield Ave, Westfield, NJ 07090.

A funeral mass & repass for family and close friends to follow on Saturday.
