Karyn Price Obituary

The world lost a kind and wonderful soul on May 20, 2020 when the light of our lives Karyn B. Price, age 50, of Mountainside, NJ and Long Neck, DE left us entirely too soon.  A loving wife, stepmother, aunt, friend, and lover of animals, her sudden passing has left a void in all of us.

Born Karyn Brook Manie on March 1, 1970 in Baytown, Texas, she grew up in and around the Houston area becoming a self-described tomboy who loved the outdoors and playing sports.  Upon her graduation from high school, she began a very successful career in marine insurance that would span nearly three decades.  She started with Trident Marine Managers in Houston, ultimately rising to the level of Executive Vice President.  It was there that she met the love of her life Scott and made the momentous decision in 2005 to move to the East Coast so that they could build a life together.  Karyn’s career continued in New Jersey with several other insurance companies, most recently finishing her career with The Hartford.

Through her career, Karyn developed a passion for playing golf, most recently as a member of Echo Lake Country Club where she enjoyed playing in the ladies nine-hole group and especially playing couples golf with Scott.

Her love for animals was without limit and she especially loved her dogs:  Brandy, Shelby, Kady, Molly and Lily.  Through animals, she also made time to give back by volunteering at Home For Good Dog Rescue and by training one of her golden retrievers Molly to be a certified therapy dog.

Karyn enjoyed being by the water and on the water, playing golf, and was happiest spending time in her Delaware home near family. Her generosity knew no bounds and she was tireless in trying to make everyone’s life better.  She did this in countless thoughtful ways both big and small.  Karyn’s love of food and skill at cooking was one of her favorite ways to show how much she cared and she shared this love with all who knew her.

Karyn leaves a heart-broken family who will cherish her light always; husband Scott, step children Ryan and Amanda Price, mother Jody Penny (Larry), father Calvin Manie, stepmother Cindy Manie, sister Jodie Manie, brother Jimmy Pavliska (Taylor), brother Forest Penny (Georgie), mother-in-law Suzanne Price, sister-in-law Lyn Buck (Frank), and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Karyn was pre-deceased by a brother Brett and a sister Christy.

A private service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
