Julius "Julie" Kuznitz Obituary

Julius “Julie” Kuznitz, 93 went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2020 at Rahway Hospital. Julius was predeceased by his wife, Margot Loenser. They were married for sixty-three years at her passing in 2014. He resided in Rahway, Linden and Brick.  He was born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on November 14, 1927 to Fred and Mary Kuznitz. He was the eldest of seven siblings. He is survived by his sisters Betty Gold, Mildred Jackson and his brother Maurice Kuznitz. He was predeceased by his sisters Arlene Galazin and Silvia Goins and brother Phillip Kuznitz. Julius was a loving husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his three children. His daughter Barbara Gallagher and her husband Robert. Their daughter Meghan Perez and her husband Brian, and Kristy Gallagher and her five children. His son Glenn Kuznitz and his wife Dora. His son Mark Kuznitz and his wife Christine and their son AJ and his wife Brittany.

At the age of seventeen, Julius joined the US Merchant Marine sailing throughout South America and Europe. He then served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Trieste, Italy where was the personal driver of the company commander.  

This year he was honored by the Uptown Linden Association with a Linden Hometown Heroes banner which was displayed on Wood Avenue during the month of November. He was so surprised!  In civilian life he owned several retail shoe stores in Linden, Rahway, Edison, Hasbrook Heights and most recently Gem Men’s Shoes in Springfield.

Julius loved the Lord and faithfully served as a deacon, elder, board member and missions treasurer of Evangel Church in Scotch
Plains since the age of twenty-five. He will be missed by all!

Graveside services will be held at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden on Friday, December 11, 2020.
