Mary Judith Clohosey (nee Flood), “Judy” to all who knew her well, passed away on March 9, 2021 after a courageous battle with Covid-19. Judy was pre-deceased by her loving husband Paul Clohosey. She is survived by her loving siblings, Luke Thomas Flood Jr. and Anne of Middletown, NJ, John P. Flood and June Higashi of San Mateo, Ca, Jerry and Nancy Flood of Belmar, N.J., and Marguerite E. Bennett (nee Flood) and Claude of Kenilworth, N.J. She also survived by her adoring 12 nieces and nephews and 6 grand nieces and nephews who were all dear to “Aunt” Judy: Luke, Jim, John, Brian, Kate, Joe, Jane, Nora, Teryn, Jordan, Christine, Alex, Carmella, Angela, Phoebe, Natalie, Will and Conor. She is also survived by countless cousins and friends who cherished her. She is also survived by countless cousins, friends, her Aunt Kate, and brother-in-law Jerry who all cherished her.
Judy was born to the late Luke Thomas Flood and Irene Marie Lavery in Orange, New Jersey in 1950. Raised in Newark and then Orange, N.J., she attended Marylawn Of the Oranges High School and received a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate from Newark State Teachers College. From there she taught in the Newark public school system for over 20 years. Teaching young children was her passion and she brought the fruits of that passion daily to all of her students.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows at 10AM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 followed by interment at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy's memory may be made to the ASPCA.
