Joseph A Foti

Joseph A. Foti, 73, of Mountainside, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Newark, Joe resided in Mountainside for the past 38 years with his beloved family.
Joe retired from the Berkeley Heights Board of Education in January of 2024 as a CEFM. Joe was also the owner of the landmark “Foti’s Luncheonette” in the Ironbound section of Newark for 30 years.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Foti and Frances Foti (nee Boscia). Surviving is his loving wife of 39 years, Donna Foti (nee Rice); caring son, Adam and wife Stephanie, and adoring granddaughters Arabella Francesca and Serafina Rose; Sister, Lisa Moreno and niece Elisa Grace; brother-in-law Brad and nephew James; brother-in-law Jeffrey (Susan) and nieces Georgia and Sophie; and many loving cousins and friends.

Joe was an avid runner and continued running even beyond his cancer diagnosis. He had a strong passion for cooking and could replicate any dish from memory. Joe loved playing his guitars, listening to music, wood working, and “puttering” around. Joe especially loved spending every second with his granddaughters and family.

Memorial visitation will be on Friday from 4-8pm at the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave, Westfield.  Memorial mass will be on Saturday at 10:30am at ST Helens RC Church, Westfield.
