Jose M. Rodriguez

Jose M. Rodriguez, 84, died on August 10. 2019.   A viewing  will be held  from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on August 12, 2019 at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, NJ.  A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at  St. John the Apostle Church, 1805 Penbrook Terrace, Linden, NJ.

Jose was a loving husband and was predeceased by his wife, Maria Cristina of 61 years.  He was the beloved father and grandfather who lived his life for his family.  He was the loving father of Carmen Rodriguez (husband Nicholas) and daughter (Layla), Madeline( deceased) , Anne Marie Ventura (husband Michael) and three children (Cristina, Joseph and Daniel), and Joyce Hessemer (husband Thomas) and four children (Philip, Peter, James and John).  Jose was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico but resided the majority of his life in New Jersey.

Jose was an Executive Chef for over 59 years before his retirement at the age of 84.  His most recent employment was at New Community Extended Care Facility and the Priory Restaurant in Newark, NJ.  He began his career as Head Chef at Johnny Murphy’s Brass Horn Restaurant as well as Medici’s Restaurant and the School House Restaurant in Elizabeth and South Plainfield, NJ.
