John Matthew McCaskie passed away on September 27, 2020 at the age of 54. John was a quick wit with a great intellect, a larger-than-life, unique individual whose personality and charm were contagious and effortless. John will always be remembered as an enthusiastic innovator and a tremendous talent across many fields. He loved to make people smile and laugh, and the crowds for whom he DJ’ed adored him. His soul was compassionate, gentle and kind, and his handsome good looks and electric smile were unforgettable. John was devoted to and always opened his heart to his friends. He had a natural rapport with animals and loved music, literature and the arts. A favorite phrase of his was “Amazing!” as he was always amazed by the beauty of the world around him. His loving family and friends seek solace in the hope that John now rests in the peace he always sought. He suffered deeply from the disease of addiction which led to his tragic passing. He will be missed enormously and eternally loved by all the lives he touched. John is survived by his parents, Jack and Sue; his children, Tanner and Talia; his siblings and in-laws, Fiona, Jenny, Katie, Richard and Gary; his nephews, Darcy, Rohan, Kaleb and Daelan; and his former wife, Sue.
A private ceremony and burial will be held in New Jersey.
The family asks for donations to the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. Funny anecdotes and warm, treasured memories of John are welcome and highly encouraged in the comments.
