John G. Kulish, 84, passed away peacefully on July 5 th , 2024 at Brighton Gardens in Florham Park. Son of the late Velma (Omahne) and John J. Kulish,
brother of the late Velma Ditzel (Larry), husband of Theodora Kiriakatis Kulish of 31 years, whose children are Angela (Matthew) Classi; Dr John Kiriakatis, Peter (Elaine) Kiriakatis and grandchildren, Matthew, Mary Grace & Lucas. John leaves, to cherish his
memory, his daughters Jacquelynn (Robert) Jedrzejek, Cynthia (Robert Abbott) Kulish, Barbara Anne (Garold) Thompson, and Valerie (Joseph) Huang. John was a loving “Poppy” to Taylor (Brittany) Jedrzejek, Spencer Jedrzejek, Brittany,
Kaitlynn, Isabella and Sophia Barilla, and Abigail, Alexandra and Braden Huang and adoring Great Grandfather to Aaron Richards and Ella Jedrzejek. John spent almost his entire career working for Plessey Dynamics, now BAE, in Hillside beginning
as a draftsman/designer at a very young age and diligently worked his way through the various divisions up to Vice President before his retirement. John spent his life in service to his community. He served on the Hillside Township Committee as it’s
youngest Mayor. In addition, he continued to serve as Township Clerk, Police & Fire Commissioners, as well as on various other township boards. John served as Chairman of the Hillside Republican County Committee. He was a founder of the Hillside Historical Society, and a member and president of The Hillside Board of Education. County-wide he was an appointee to the Joint Sewer Recycling Commission. Many great things were established
during his tenure on the committee. He was feted at his retirement for over 40 years of service to Hillside. John was also a member of the Hillside Knights of Columbus, the Alhambra, the Hillside Elks and The Hillside Rotary Club.
He partnered in two businesses in Hillside, JK’s Korner Deli 1975-1984, and Lyons Manor (formerly Reflections) 1984-2003. John was a golfer, when he could squeeze it in, and loved to travel. He was never without his beloved
Maltese, Tiffany, who was his constant companion. Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home has been entrusted with John’s arrangements. Visitation will be held on Wed. July 10 from 3-5pm. Funeral
service to follow at St Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Thur. July 11 at 10:30am. His daughters and their families have planned a private Celebration of Life to be held on a future date. Thank you for your understanding, love and
