Jean F. Anthes Obituary

Jean Anthes passed away on March 4, 2024. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1925. Jean was predeceased by her husband, William C. Anthes and by her parents, Louis and Concetta Capobianco and sisters, Alma Capobianco, Emilia Kane and Celeste Krowicki. Jean was a loving aunt to Constance Klein of Seattle, WA, Robert Krowicki of Scotch Plains, NJ and Marie O'Connor of Falmouth, MA. She is also survived by many grandnieces and great-grand nephews. Jean was a  loving stepmother to the late Joan C. Jankunas (Thomas) of Cranford, NJ, William R. Anthes of Torrington, CT and Patricia Kurzweil of Colonia, NJ. Jean is also survived by her step grandchildren, Kimberly Horvath (Robert) of Clark, NJ, Kerry Daddato (Frank) of Manalapan, NJ, Jennifer Surmay (Gary) of Cranford, NJ and Alison Moffitt (Michael) of Scottsdale, AZ as well as nine step great-grandchildren, Ryan, Evan and Matthew Surmay, Kaelyn and Caroline Moffitt, Jamie Lee and Robert Horvath and Frankie and Briana Daddato.

Jean worked as an executive secretary/administrative assistant for the former Heyden Newport Chemical Corp. in New York City, as executive secretary for Wakefern Food Corp. and as office manager for PME Equipment Inc. in Union, NJ from where she retired in 1989. She loved animals and was a lifelong New York Yankee fan.

Visitation will be held at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield, NJ on Sunday, March 10 from 3 to 6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated of Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Genevieve’s RC Church in Elizabeth, NJ at 9:30 AM
