James B. Maguire, Jr.

James B. Maguire Junior (Jim), age 83 of Westfield NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday December 26th 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jim was born on August 8, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York.  He was the only child of James and Helen.  James graduated from Bronx Science High School and went on to study at City College and Queens College.  He received his MBA from St. John’s University. He worked at ATT for many years before “retiring” to a part time real estate career.  He loved spending his days on the beach in Cape Cod and doing all things outdoors.  He was witty, high tech and a great handyman, but above all enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his children Marjorie (Thomas) FitzGibbon, James (Maureen) Maguire, Eileen (Michael) Watkins, Daniel (Mio) Maguire and step-daughter Heather (Chuck) Burgess. He is also survived by his ex-wife Antonia with whom he had wonderful memories and his 15 grandchildren who affectionately called him PopPop: TJ, Matthew, Melissa, Chiara, Dara, James, Nicholas, Sean, Robert, Peter, Dylan, Ryleigh, Quinn, Annie and Henry. 

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret of 25 years and his parents.  

Due to Covid restrictions, a private service for immediate family only, will take place on Monday, December 28th at Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home. The family plans to hold a celebration of life in August 2021.
