Jack Gilmore Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of John "Jack" Gilmore of Elizabeth NJ. Jack passed into eternal life on January 10, 2024 at the age of 82.

Jack was born on March 8, 1941 in Elizabeth to Michael and Winifred Gilmore. He resided in Elizabeth for 82 years. Jack is a graduate of Sacred Heart School, class of 1959. After high school, Jack worked for Exxon Mobile and then retired with ConocoPhillips. In his younger years, he was a member of his company bowling league. They won several championships and awards. He enjoyed reading, music, history, and traveling. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed going to games and watching them with his diner friends.

Jack is preceded by his parents, Michael and Winifred Gilmore and sister Maureen Zanin. Jack is survived by his brother-in-law John Zanin, his nieces Mary, Jen (Herb) and Jamie (Pete), nephews John (Kelly) and Michael (Kerry), and his grandnieces Rebecca, Madison, Summer, Teresa, Elizabeth, Tatiana, Kendall, and his grandnephews Bryce, Owen and Alejandro.

Visitation will be Monday, January 15, 2024 from 4-8 pm at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart RC Church in Manville on Tuesday January 16, 2024 at 9:30 am. He will be laid to eternal rest with his sister in Saint Mary of the Lake Cemetery in Lakewood.
