Incoronata (Sapia) Cerullo

Incoronata (nee Sapia) Cerullo, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, of Elizabeth, NJ passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on August 9, 2021 at her current residence in Linden, NJ surrounded by her loving family. She was born in 1926 in Vallata, Italy and came to America in 1963 with her husband and children, to help build a better life for her family. 

Incoronata was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and made sure everyone was fed with the freshest of ingredients straight from her own garden. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting blankets for her family. For many years, she assisted her husband at John's Caffè, of Elizabeth, NJ established in 1968, remembered fondly for ensuring her beloved customers received a cup of espresso and fresh bread on a daily basis.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Giovanni; her son, Michele; her granddaughter, Lucia; her sisters, Assunta Bove and Maria Paternostro; and her brothers, Vito, Nicola, and Gerard Sapia.

She is survived by her loving children, Vito Antonio and his wife Giovanna, Gerardo and his wife Maria, and her daughter, Anna; her cherished grandchildren, Susan and her husband Francesco, Giovanni and his wife Christa, Michela, Cristina, Gaetano and his wife Charise, Maria and her husband Antonio, Leonia and her boyfriend Zack, JohnMichael, and Marcella; her adoring great-grandchildren, Gerardo, Angela, Giuseppe, Gerardo, Gianni, Luciano, Sayuri, and Enzo; and her loving sister, Antonietta Mercadante. 

Visitation will be held at Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, NJ 07090 on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 853 Third Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ 07202 on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00am. Entombment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, NJ.

***Mask must be worn indoors.
