Helen Jean Brady

Helen Jean Brady (nee Conley) 88 of Bridgewater, formerly of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2023. After 62 years of marriage, 3 months was too long to be apart from her husband John Brady.

Helen Jean was born at Rahway hospital to Harold and Helen Conley. She was raised in Westfield and graduated from Averett University. She After college, she worked on Wall Street at Kidder Peabody as a secretary. She married John in 1960 and took time to raise her 4 children. While they were young, she volunteered at the Westfield Rescue Squad as a dispatcher, as a cook and food deliver at Westfield Meals on Wheels program and at the Westfield service league. Later in life she also worked at CR Bard, and Buttermore, Mullen, Jeremiah and Philips leading to her retirement.

Helen Jean was active in her children's lives. She was often in found at a sporting field either cheering on her children, coaching practices when her husband didn't make the train home from NYC or score keeping. She was an avid bridge player and in retirement, she would often play 2-3 days a week. She also enjoyed reading mystery books. Helen Jean's happy place was the Jersey shore. She spent every summer there as a child and loved to return as often as possible.

Helen Jean is survived and will be missed by her loving brother, Charles Conley, her children Kevin, Gavin (wife Karen), Patrick and Sharon along with her 4 grandchildren Declan, Colin, Matthew and Owen. Helen Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Brady.

Helen Jean's wake will be held at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 5-8 PM. Her funeral will be held at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 10 AM.
