Harold Fischer, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife of 66 years June S. Fischer, two children, Lori Feigenbaum and Nancy Shanahan, and four grandchildren Rachel Shanahan Abramowitz, Amanda Feigenbaum, Evan Shanahan, and Corey Feigenbaum.
Harold was born in Washington Heights, NY, and would describe himself as someone “born in the shadow of Yankee Stadium”. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a successful entrepreneur. In 1973 he founded Garden State Industrial Electronics (GSI) in Cranford, NJ.
In 1954, Harold met the love of his life, June Selesner in the Poconos, and they were married in 1955. June and Harold were inseparable, eventually moving to Hillside, New Jersey where they raised their two children. June and Harold then retired to Scotch Plains, New Jersey and Longboat Key, Florida.
Harold loved his family dearly, enjoyed traveling and creating memories with his children and grandchildren. Those that were lucky enough to share a meal with him or play card games knew to expect laughter and heartwarming conversation. Harold was all that was good in the world and his memory will be a blessing.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey.
