Born March 23, 1938 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. “Poppy” as her friends knew her, met and married her high school sweetheart, Stephanous (Steve) Liadis. Shortly after, they relocated to Hazlet, NJ.

Poppy started her career as a clerk typist at Lipton Tea and eventually became an executive administrator at Bristol Myers Squibb.

A devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and career woman, Poppy always found time to volunteer at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy where she was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club, organizing her churches first and successive annual Greek festivals. Also a member of Philoptochos, she served as fundraising chairman, organizing many annual fashion-show events.

Upon her retirement she and Steve moved to Little Egg Harbor and that became their home. Here again she found a way to volunteer, becoming a youth mentor for middle school girls. She was active in her community proofreading and submitting her own articles for The Cranberry Creek Development newsletter. Part of the development’s social community, she was a team member of the CC Bowling league. She found good friends there. The group became lovingly known as the “YaYa Girls”.

Forever independent, Poppy loved to travel, take car rides and most of all spending time with her five grandchildren affectionately known to them as “YiaYia”.
