Gabriel Valdes

Our beloved father Gabriel Valdes, 84, peacefully passed away on May 23,2022. He courageously and gracefully battled Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia for the past 12 years.  
Gaby, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Havana, Cuba. He came to the United States in 1967 and settled in Queens, NY. There he continued his career as a cash register mechanic. He successfully owned two businesses throughout his career before retiring in 2004. 
He was a dedicated family man, trustworthy friend and life-long baseball enthusiast "GO YANKEES". He had a warm heart, contagious energy and always had a joke to make you laugh. 

Gaby is predeceased by his parents Maria and Salvador, his loving wife of 36 years Zoila, and his daughter Elvira. He is survived by his daughters Beatriz, Jacqueline and her husband Carlos and by his only grandchild, who was the love of his life, Kaila Henig. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:00am at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield, NJ. Interment will follow the visitation on Friday, May 27 at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, NJ.
