Frank Palumbo passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy built on hard work, ingenuity, loyalty, and a zest for life that was unmistakably his own.

For more than 45 years, Frank owned and operated his commercial line striping and landscaping business, earning a reputation for excellence that was built one job at a time. A gifted problem solver with exceptional mechanical ability, Frank built his business from the ground up. In its inception, he constructed his own line-striping machine from individual parts, a testament to his mechanical ability, creativity, determination, and resourcefulness that defined him throughout his life. A true perfectionist. Frank never asked anyone to do a job he wouldn’t do himself. Even after decades in business, he remained hands on, believing that hard work, diligence, and doing things the right way were values worth living by.

As hard as Frank worked, he enjoyed life just as passionately. He loved being on the water, riding motorcycles and had a love for cars. More than the hobbies themselves, he treasured the friendships that grew from them. Frank believed that life’s greatest moments were meant to be shared – with good music, great stories, plenty of laughter, and the people who mattered most.

Music was always a big part of Frank’s life, especially the Rolling Stones, whose songs became the soundtrack to so many unforgettable memories. He had a contagious sense of fun and a personality that drew people in. Whether spending an evening with lifelong friends or meeting someone for the first time, Frank had a way of making every gathering memorable.

Family was at the center of Frank’s heart. He carried throughout his life the profound loss of his beloved son, Francis “Frankie” Michael Palumbo, who was the light of his life. He was also preceded in death by his cherished older brother, Patrick Palumbo, and by his parents, Margaret “Peggy” Dunn Koste and Patrick J. Palumbo. Though these losses were immeasurable, Frank’s love for each of them never faded.

Frank is survived by Theresa Mills his beloved life partner and wife of 42 years. Although they divorced briefly later in life, they found their way back to one another and spent the remainder of Frank’s life together, sharing their love and devotion. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret “Peggy” Kostas, Mara Palumbo, his brothers Martin Palumbo and Daniel Palumbo, along with his nieces, nephews, grandniece and grandnephews, and countless friends who became family over the years.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Frank’s life during visitation on Friday, July 31, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday,
August 1, at 10:00 AM at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Avenue, Westfield, NJ.

Frank’s greatest legacy is not simply the successful business he built, but the lives he touched through his generosity, loyalty, laughter and unwavering authenticity. He lived fully, loved deeply, worked tirelessly and created memories that those fortunate enough to know him will carry forever.

He will be deeply missed by so many, each holding cherished memories and stories that reflect the unique place Frank held in their lives. Though he is gone, his spirit lives on in every laugh, favorite song, every ride on the open road, every day on the water and at the dock, and in the hearts of all who loved him.

“You can’t always get what you what you want … but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.”

Frank gave so many people exactly what they needed – his love, his friendship, his laughter, and a life that will never be forgotten.

His memory will forever be a blessing.
