Frances Kuscavage Obituary

Frances Kuscavage, loving and cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, of Kenilworth, was welcomed home to heaven on Friday, August 28 at the age of 92, reuniting with her husband and soulmate Aloysius Kuscavage, after 22 years apart.

Frances was born in Plymouth, PA on June 29, 1928 to Benjamin and Victoria Zawadzki. The youngest of seven children and the only girl, she grew up in Plymouth and attended Misercordia University. On October 14, 1950, she married Aloysius Kuscavage, and in 1960 they moved to Kenilworth, NJ, where they raised their four children, Joan, Len, Barbara and Carol.

Fran was a kind, easygoing and content person. She was happiest enjoying the simple pleasures of life – whether it was reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble with her grandson, watching Jeopardy with her son, or simply sharing a meal or holiday celebration with her family. She especially cherished the time spent with her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

A devout Catholic, Fran was a longtime parishioner of the Church of St. Theresa in Kenilworth and was a member of the Rosary Society. She will be missed immensely, but her family is extremely grateful for her long life and the many years of memories we will always cherish, and that she is now with the Lord, whom she served all of her life.

In addition to her husband, Al, Frances was predeceased by her parents and five brothers, Frank, Stanley, Walter, Anthony and Reverend Victor Zawadzki. She is survived by her brother Leo and her children and their spouses, Joan Chernego (George), Leonard Kuscavage (Toni Passaro), Barbara Keitel (Mark), and Carol Bihler (Joseph).

She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and their spouses, Christina Chadwick (Sean), Michael Chernego, Patricia Klein (Jon), Kathryn Wetzel (David), Amy Noon (Stephen), Matthew Bihler and Victoria Bihler (Dr. Neil Borad), and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Hannah, Maggie, Noah, and Evan, and one more on the way, and many nieces and nephews.

Fran is also survived by her wonderful neighbor and friend of many years, Kathy Vitale and her husband Michael, who was a constant companion and loyal friend who was always there for Fran. Fran’s family is also so grateful to Jennifer Jerimie, who took such good care of Fran and quickly became part of the family in her final months.

The wake and mass of Christian burial will be for immediate family only, as to not ask our extended family and friends to put themselves at risk due to the current COVID-19 situation. Your love, condolences, and prayers are felt and so appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frances’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org.
