Evelyn Skorinko Obituary

Evelyn Skorinko, born in Newark NJ and a resident of Berkeley Heights, passed away on Friday March 6, surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was along time parishioner of Holy Trinty Greek Orthodox Church and a devoted Steward of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, serving on the Executive Board for many years. She became a Board Member Emeritus, continuing to be an Honorary Board Member to the present. 
In May 2013, Evelyn was honored by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of NJ in Recognition of her years of selfless devotion to the philanthropic ministry of the Greek Orthodox Church and the community of Holy Trinity in Westfield NJ for her altruistic acts of charity and devotion. 
Evelyn and her husband George 
were members of the Cultural Committee since its inception. She was also a member of the Trinity Circle.
Evelyn received the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox's Mother of the Year award in May 2000. 
Evelyn travelled extensively with her husband and family around the world, including The United States,  Europe, Asia Minor, China, Russia and Canada. 
She also loved to travel with one of her best friends, Helen, and they had many adventures together. 
She loved History and the Cultural Arts.
Evelyn graduated from Uppsala College as an Historian. She retained her passion for History both in Graduate Studies at Penn State University and as an Adjunct, teaching at Newark State College before it became Kean University. 
She was a long time substitute teacher in Westfield NJ. 
After retiring, Evelyn enjoyed working for the Museum Company providing  historical information to her interested customers. 
Evelyn was a hard working advocate. She spent years as an active fundraiser for her charity to offset living and residential costs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Evelyn was admired for her sense of fashion and her dignity.  
Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband George, her daughter Alexis, her son Ivan, and her extended family ~ including her brother in law Len,  and nieces and nephews and their families.
