Eulalio DaCunha Obituary

Eulalio A. DaCunha, age 94, of Union, NJ, passed away on April 30, 2026. Born on January 2, 1932, in Portugal, he lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, pride in his work, and a deep appreciation for the community and traditions that shaped him.

He grew up in Portugal and carried the values of hard work, humility, and perseverance with him throughout his life. At the age of 26, he immigrated to the United States with his beloved wife, Emilia DaCunha, beginning a new chapter together in this country. They made their home in Elizabeth, NJ, where they raised their daughter, and later moved to Union, where he has resided since.

Eulalio worked as a tailor throughout his entire career, a profession in which he took great pride. He was known for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. He first worked for Roots men's clothing in Summit, NJ, and later continued his craft at Adam's fine clothing stores in New Providence, NJ. His work reflected the care and precision that defined him, and he was respected by those who knew him professionally and personally.

He was a member of the Portuguese American Club in Elizabeth and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Elizabeth. These connections were an important part of his life, and he valued the fellowship, faith, and cultural ties they provided. He also enjoyed cooking and taking care of his home, finding satisfaction in the simple and meaningful routines of daily life.

Above all, Eulalio was a devoted family man. He was hardworking, intelligent, and deeply committed to those he loved. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and his family was the center of his world. He shared 50 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife Emilia until her passing on July 28, 2007, and their life together remained one of the great blessings of his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Isabel Gachko; his granddaughter, Emilyann Gachko; and his brothers and sisters, Hermenegildo DaCunha, Rui Maceira, Irisalva Andre, and Victoria DaCunha. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Emilia DaCunha; his parents, Francisco Sales DaCunha and Beatriz Amelia Maceira; and his siblings, Leonel Cunha, Manuel Cunha, and Aquiles DaCunha.

Eulalio A. DaCunha will be remembered with love and admiration for the life he built, the family he cherished, and the quiet strength with which he lived each day. His memory will remain a lasting source of comfort and pride to all who knew and loved him.
