Elizabeth M. Mulvaney

Elizabeth Mulvaney, better known as Beth, 61, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Overlook Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Beth was born on January 19, 1960 and raised by Arthur and Anne Coffey in Bronx, New York. She moved to Park Ridge, New Jersey in her teens, and graduated from Park Ridge High School in 1978. Beth went on to attend Glassboro State College before graduating from Kean College with the highest of honors. A teacher by nature, Beth began her career as a preschool teacher, but spent the vast majority of her career teaching elementary students. She dedicated almost 24 years to the school she loved to call home, Coles Elementary School in Scotch Plains, where her students and fellow teachers became like a second family.

In addition to an abundance of friends and extended family, Beth is survived by her adoring and beloved husband Kevin Mulvaney; siblings Patricia (Coffey Lama) O’Brien, Michael Coffey, and Brian Coffey; children Stephanie Risse White and her husband Stephen and Kevin Arthur Risse and his husband Nico Vasilo; stepdaughters Michelle Mulvaney Blaylock and her husband Michael and Tracey Mulvaney Sceurman and her husband Michael; grandchildren Madeline, Emily, Connor,
Zachary, Sean, Gianna, Tyler, and Riley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The wake will be held at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave, Westfield, NJ on Friday, May 7th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Michael’s Church, 40 Alden St, Cranford, NJ on Saturday, May 8th at 9 a.m. Entombment is in Fairview Cemetery, 1100 E Broad St, Westfield, NJ immediately following the funeral.
