Elaine K. Ventura 99, passed away peacefully at her home in Roselle NJ.
Elaine was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 15,1923. She fell in love and married Joseph Vito Ventura (predeceased), moved to Roselle, and raised three children, Raymond (predeceased), Diana and Michael.
Growing up in the country, she loved nature and being outdoors. She liked to ride horses and was a veracious reader. She worked as a draftsman during World War II, drawing airplane sketches and later fire protection systems. Elaine loved the Lord and was a very active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. If she was not at service, she would be doing linens, cleaning, singing in the choir or running church events.
She held many roles throughout her life but her most cherished was being a wife and mother. She was an excellent cook, and no one could make better Scrapple! She also was an avid baker and her Boston Cream, Lemon Méringue, and Chocolate cake were her family and friend’s favorites. If you received one for your Birthday you were truly blessed! She liked to sew and make dresses, coats, doll clothes and even stuffed animals. She enjoyed gardening and was often found working the rotor tiller and planting vegetables. She always went out of her way, selflessly, to help others, nothing was too bothersome if it came to assisting a friend in need. She had a love for all her furry and feathered friends, especially Kitty, Binky, Jett, Horace, Max and Rex.
Her grandchildren revered her and will always remember having fun with her. There are so many stories. She loved Michelle, Nicole, Cristina, Joseph, Evan and Daniel. She was equally proud of her great-grandchildren Dominick, Anthony, Marissa, Jacob and Lucas.
Elaine is also predeceased by her parents Herbert and Ruthetta Kershaw, and her beloved sister Marion Green. She is missed already by Diana Ventura & Gary Costello, Michael & Anne Marie Ventura, Marilyn Ventura, Natalie Darco, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Rest in Peace Mom, we love and thank you for all you were and all you helped us become.
